Julie & Julia & random acts of kindness.

So tonight I got to go out with my family to watch Julie and Julia. It was cute, just like most food movies are - food movies being Ratatouille… that’s about the only other one I can think of. And once again I want to learn how to cook. And go to Paris.

But something happened before the movie. We were hanging around the outside of the theater because we ended up going to the 10 o’clock show, and it was too early for us to even go in. So while we’re waiting, I was eavesdropping on the people getting their tickets. This guy, maybe in his mid- to late fifties had just got his ticket for some movie, and there are two girls, maybe 19 and this other guy behind him. The girls are together, the guy’s by himself, and the middle-aged guy asks: “what movies are you going to see?”. The girls say 500 Days of Summer. “And you?” the guy asks to the younger guy behind those girls. The guy says 500 Days. So the older man turns around to the guy selling tickets and says “three tickets for 500 Days of Summer”. All three of those kids were like “really? are you sure?” and the guy’s just like “yeah, it’s fine. are you students?” (students get discounted prices), and the two girls were - I don’t know about the guy. And then after he paid for their tickets, he asks them “were you going to get popcorn?” and obviously the kids say no, it would be weird to ask him to pay for more, so they say thank you and then the guy says “when you’re all multi-millionaires you can go and pay for kids’ movie tickets”.

I don’t know, this just gave me some more hope for this world. Lately I’m trying to be more positive, and this just boosted my positivity a lot.
